Parents Leading the Way Conference


WHAT:
9th Annual Parents Leading the Way Conference

This event is pre-registration only. Registration ends January 31, 2012.  We are only accepting 200 children and youth.

Registration is $100 per person.  Private Rooms are $120.  Two children are no charge and the third child is $10. 

Professionals are $75 with no room.

The culmination of National Parent Leadership Month.
Presented by Parents Anonymous®of South Carolina, its affiliates and conference partners:  SC School Improvement Council, SC PTA, Charleston County School District Title One, Childrens Trust of SC, and PRO-Parents.  

WHEN:
Friday February 24:
Tracks for Professionals-- 1 until 4p.m.
Saturday February 25: Tracks for Parents and Teens -- 9 a.m. to 3:30p.m. 
Saturday February 26: Trip to EdVenture Museum for children 5 - 13 yrs. old; limited ChildCare for walking children younger than 5 yrs.

 

WHY:
The goal is to recognize and to encourage Parent Leadership in the home, the school and the community. The Conference is for the benefit of parents and other primary caregivers of children as well as for professionals and the public interested in strengthening families.
Parents Anonymous® of South Carolina is grateful to its affiliates and conference partners: SC School Improvement Council, the SC PTA, the Charleston County School District, Childrens Trust of SC, PRO-Parents and the SC Department of Education for working on this conference with SC state office.

Friday's Professionals' Track will focus on topics primarily for social services professionals, education professionals and members of the public interested in family strengthening and in creating leadership among parents to collaborate in strengthening families.
Saturday's Conference Workshops will be of special interest to parents and will cover a wide variety of topics ranging from information on school-related issues, to how to handle bullying, to how to become a parent leader.
Friday evening will feature The Marty C Banks Awards Banquet and A Family Time Get-Together with dancing and storytime.
Saturday's Family Picnic will have raffles, thank yous an buffet dinner.

CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS:
Children of conference participants can take part on Saturday in a free program at the EdVenture Museum or, for younger children, there will be a limited childcare program at the hotel.

A special Children and Youth registration form must be submitted for each child attending either the free program at the museum or the childcare program.

South Carolina's "Parents Leading the Way Conference" was created to recognize the state's parent leaders, to educate the public about family strengthening and to encourage professionals, policymakers and other community members to create opportunities to partner with parents to address issues that affect children and families.

The conference assembles speakers to inspire, workshops to teach and friends to share valuable parenting information. Parents will be honored and celebrated for their leadership roles as volunteers, as advocates for children and as role models for all parents.

Help Strengthen a Family

In South Carolina less than one dollar a day......in fact, only 81˘...will serve an entire family in Parents Anonymous group for ONE YEAR. 

81˘= $24.30 per month or only $292 a year to provide our services and help a family "along the way."
